A wave of xAI’s Grok. Unlike most viral fads, the momentum behind xAI’s Grok does not seem to be slowing.
But another week has made a world of difference for the app, which just rocketed into its homeland Top App and Overall charts, officially hitting #4 on the U.S. App Store.
The numbers we are seeing this morning confirm that Grok is one of the most downloaded apps in the country, competing with the heavy hitters and utilities.

The surge to the number four spot represents a significant jump from its position just days prior, indicating a massive influx of new users in the last 48 hours.
The U.S. rise is in keeping with this week’s trend, which saw Grok crack the Top 100 chart in Spain and Slovenia, among other countries.
Elon Musk has championed this growth as proof that the app can cut through disinformation and provide real time information, but analysts believe it is a mix of different factors.
The surge of interest in the app comes as a heated conflict over its image creating tools has thrust the company into public criticism, indicating that the media coverage known as the Streisand Effect may be drawing more attention rather than turning it away.
